Update : 30 Jan 2021, 12:21 PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the government will monitor the Covid-19 situation throughout February and decide on reopening the educational institutions across the country afterwards.

She on Saturday also ordered authorities concerned to ensure that everyone at all educational institutions gets the vaccine as soon as possible.

Her remarks came during the event in the morning held to publish the results of the 2020 HSC and equivalent examinations, which was not held because of the pandemic, reports Bangla Tribune.

Joining the event via videoconference from Ganabhaban, the prime minister said: "Everyone related to schools, colleges and universities must get the vaccine. If everyone follows through, we will be able to keep the [Covid-19] situation under control a little bit more.

"That will help us reopen the educational institutions sooner. However, we will monitor the next month [February]. Because this coronavirus had seen widespread infections in March last year."

"We will work on reopening the educational institutions after monitoring the situation throughout February. This is what we are considering. We will take necessary measures as quickly as possible," added the prime minister.
