People from economics, science, and engineering backgrounds will be the most sought-after from this time forward, according to business magnate, software developer, and philanthropist Bill Gates.

Gates, best known as co-founder of Microsoft Corporation, said he came to this conclusion based on data he had collected through various endeavours, reports CNBC.

People proficient in the three aforementioned subjects will be “the agents of change for all institutions,” the billionaire told LinkedIn Editor-in-Chief Daniel Roth in an interview.

“I do think of basic knowledge of the sciences, math skills, economics — a lot of careers in the future will be very demanding on those things,” Gates said.

The Microsoft co-founder said one does not have to be an expert in coding or the periodic table, but having the ability to think the way experts do will help aspirants enormously.

″It's not necessarily that you'll be writing code, but you need to understand what  can engineers do and what can they not do," Gates said.

“They'll likely be revolutionizing your industry,” he added.
