Update : 26 Dec 2020, 07:55 PM

The Education Ministry is working toward publishing the results of this year’s HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) and equivalent examinations within this week, by December 31.

Officials said work was now underway to finalize the related proposals and policies, and that the ministry would ask the education boards around the country to publish the results once they were ready, reports Bangla Tribune.

Prof Nehal Ahmed, president, Inter-Education Board Coordination Subcommittee, told Bangla Tribune: “The education minister has already said that the results will be published by December last week and we are working with that goal in mind.”

Nehal Ahmed, who is also the chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, said the national advisory committee on the matter was also working with them on this. “Work is underway to at least have the results published on the last day of December.”

Earlier, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni told reporters that the HSC results would be published in the last week of December and they would be prepared on the basis of the results of  the Junior School Certificate (JSC) or Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams.

All educational institutions of the country have remained closed since March 17 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The closure was prolonged in several phases, and on December 18, the government again extended it through announcing that all educational institutes would remain shut till January 16.

After the HSC exams were cancelled, the ministry declared that the results would be prepared based on the results of the two previous public examinations and number sheets would be provided so that the students did not face any problem at the international level.

The Education Ministry has formed a national advisory committee to prepare recommendations on how to formulate the HSC results. Subject-wise numbers would be determined on the basis of the suggestions of the committee.
