Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has issued a directive to students to open bKash accounts so as to send their stipend easily and accurately to their account.
DSHE sent a letter to all district and upazila education officers with the instructions on Thursday.
Students who were awarded scholarships for their outstanding results in their Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination in the 2018-19 academic year will be eligible to receive the stipend money.
A total of Tk3,26,000 will be sent to the students’ bKash accounts.
The bKash authority will contact the concerned upazila secondary education officer to determine the schedule for opening the accounts for the students.
In addition, the whole process will be monitored by the upazila secondary education officer in collaboration with the head of the institution.
The bKash representative will not be able to open a student’s account without the upazila secondary education officer’s permission.
The directive also stated that all enrolled students need to ensure that their accounts are opened.
The head of the institution will be held responsible if any eligible student is excluded from opening their account or any account is opened for ineligible students.
If the stipend is taken with false or incorrect information, the head of the institution has to return the money, and action will be taken against the head.
The bKash account cannot be opened on a number registered in someone else's name. The account has to be opened in the name of the student or their parents or guardians.
