A Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinee was expelled from an exam centre in Chittagong for taking photos of the question paper and sending it out using a smartphone.

The incident took place at the Katirhat High School centre in the Hathazari upazila, Chittagong on Tuesday.

Three invigilators of the exam room, where the student was sitting for the English first paper test, were also relieved of their duty on charge of negligence, said Hathazari’s Upazila Executive Officer Md Ruhul Amin.

The expelled examinee was identified as Rifad Uddin, an irregular student of Mirzapur High School, and detained.

Ruhul Amin said: "The irregular students were sitting for the exams at room No 34 at the Katirhat High School. Rifad was caught red-handed while taking photos of the question paper and sending it out.”

He said the mobile was seized and Rifad expelled right away.
