85.25% fail DU C unit admission test

Admission test results for the Dhaka University (DU) “Ga/C unit” and primary results for “Cha/E unit” were published on Monday, with only 14.75% of test takers having passed in the former. In the C unit examination, a total 29,311 candidates had applied for 1,250 seats in the Business department, averaging 23.45 people per seat. Among them, 28,248 attended the hour-long examination that began at 10am on September 15 and only 4,168 secured passing marks. English medium student Imtiaz Zahan Chowdhury (Roll: 900677) secured first position in C unit with a score of 187.4 out of 200, while Md Rakibur Rahman of Dhaka City College got second position and Md Khairul Islam of Government Syed Hatem Ali College, Barisal, achieved third position. Candidates in C unit who placed within the top 1,250 can fill-up subject choice and personal details forms from the DU website. Quota holders must submit their quota proofing forms to the Business Studies Dean’s office by September 19, and those wishing to apply for re-scrutiny of results must also apply and pay required fees at the same office on the same day. Meanwhile, 11,074 out of 13,478 applicants sat the admission test for E unit, designated for fine arts and general knowledge, on September 16. Of the applicants, 1,552 were selected to appear in the Drawing exam on September 23. Announcing the publication of the results at around 7pm, DU acting vice chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman said that though only 1,500 students are usually selected for the Drawing exam, additional candidates can take part if they tie for position. The results are available on the DU website as well as via the mobile SMS Admission result service. For results through the SMS service, candidates will have to type “DU” <space> “GA” <space> “roll number” and send it to 16321 from any mobile operator.
