A week-long theatre festival began at the Jahangirnagar University yesterday.
A faction of the Jahangirnagar Theatre – the TSC – is organising the ‘Natya Parban-2016’. The theatre was established in 1980 but split in two on January 2 the next year.
On Friday, troupe ‘Drishwapot’ staged ‘Socrates Er Jobanbondi’ (the confession of Socrates) at the Selim Al Deen Amphetheatre on the campus.
Five other troupes will stage plays there between Saturday and Wednesday. On Thursday, the organisers said they would honour freedom fighter Abdul Kader, a JU security staff and theatre personality Md Bari of ‘Theatre Art Unit’.
Meanwhile, a cultural organisation aiming at removing social injustice and anomalies through short films and dramas, was announced yesterday.
Zoology department’s Associate Professor Kabirul Bashar announced Jahangirnagar Cine Society’s launching at a press conference on the campus.
