Nobody can drag you down

Update : 28 Dec 2015, 11:40 AM

It’s that time of the year again. While the rest of the world looks forward to the New Year for a fresh new start you behold the customary pre-exam days of all-nighters, eye bags, waning health and unwarranted mood swings. Who said life was fair? No, don’t cringe already. Read ahead to know how to battle the pre-exam blues.

Snack smart

Don’t get us wrong, we mean well, but binging on junk food and Red Bull is a bad idea during exams. Excessive intake of junk food can cause fatigue and weakness and trigger digestive problems. Instead switch to protein-rich foods which can heighten mental alertness. If you studied your Biology right you should know that chocolate and sweet treats provide a nippy energy boost but on the downside that energy high is followed by an energy crash. It’s best to reserve the chocolates for post-exams and we hope it would be for celebratory purposes.

Grade you not

Instead of evaluating yourself by scoring your practice exams, give yourself a break and focus on building your confidence. The last thing you want is a meltdown over errant low score moments before the exam which may potentially cost you a lot. Allow yourself a bit of mental censorship. All this will do is zap your confidence and prevent you from revising further. Keep a relaxed state of mind and look out for cases of jitters.

Bye bye bye

Laughter is contagious but did you know that stress is as well? Stave off all negative energy around you. We all have those basket-case friends who can make any situation stressful. We know you love them but during this period of raging cortisol level you need to do whatever is in your power to keep your cool. They will nag and complain and their stress will subconsciously stress you out as well and drag you down. Don’t you already have enough to deal with?
