4 caught using proxies in JU admission test

The cheating was disclosed when they appeared for viva voce examinations in the university Monday. Rakibul Islam from Boraigram of Natore and Tapu Saha from Bajitpur of Tangail obtained second and third position in C unit (Arts and Humanities) respectively, Md Hasnat Hasan Sharia Prachurja from Debiganj of Panchagar got fifth position in H unit (the Institution of Information Technology) and Rokibul Hasan from Burichang of Comilla was in the 177th position in E unit (Business Studies). Rakibul, Tapu and Rokibul were handed over to Ashulia police, while Prachurja managed to flee from the university, according to Sudipta Saha, chief security officer of the university, and Akkas Ali, acting director of IIT. According to the rules of the university, during a viva-voce examination, an examinee’s handwriting in answer sheet is checked. When the interviewers checked the examinees handwriting during the viva, it did not match with the handwriting in their answer sheets. During interrogations by the teachers, three of them admitted that they had used proxies. Tapu admitted that he gave Tk2 lakh to one Raju of Tangail for attending the admission test on behalf of him. Ranjit Saha, father of Tapu, also admitted the fact. On the other hand, the teachers, who took viva of Prachurja on Sunday, also suspected him of using proxy. However, he was given a chance to sit for the test again given one hour’s time Monday, as he challenged the teachers’ allegation. But, he did not do well in the test. He was declared ineligible for admission temporarily and his result was sent to the admission test conducting committee for further investigation. Meanwhile, Prachurja fled from the university, when the teachers went to some other rooms of the university, said Akkas.
