The newly appointed Vice Chancellor (VC) of Chittagong University (CU) Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury has taken his charge officially.
The former Pro-Vice Chancellor of the university, Dr Iftekhar, formally took the charge from outgoing VC Prof M Anwarul Azim Arif on Monday, BSS reports.
Earlier, President and Chancellor of the university Abdul Hamid appointed Professor Iftekhar as the 17th VC of CU on June 2 as per the article 12 (2) of the Chittagong University Act, 1973.
Earlier, Dr Iftekhar, a professor of Sociology Department of CU, was appointed as the Pro-VC of the university on May 30 in 2013 and has been serving the post since then.
