DNCC Mayor Annisul Huq admitted to ICU at London hospital

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital in London. “He has been in London for about a month, and was admitted to the hospital four days ago,” the mayor's Personal Secretary Mizanur Rahman informed media through SMS on Wednesday. “DNCC Mayor Annisul Huq has been admitted to the ICU as his brain vessels were inflamed. He has been unwell for some time, although the problem was not identified when he was in Bangladesh,” the SMS read. “He had received treatment at the London hospital earlier,” Mizanur added in the SMS, saying that the London doctors had asked Annisul to take rest. DNCC Public Relation Officer Monowar Hossain told the Dhaka tribune: "According to the last update in the morning, sir (Annisul) is admitted to the hospital for treatment.” Responding to a query, Monowar added that the mayor had not suffered from a stroke or any other serious complication, and had only been admitted to the ICU as any issue related to the brain is sensitive. His wife Rubana Huq told reporters: “The doctors put him on steroid and other drugs.”
