The fire broke out around 1:55pm on Wednesday.
Fire Service Headquarters Deputy Assistant Director Mamun Ahmed told the Dhaka Tribune: “Six units went to the spot and brought the blaze under control around 2:30pm. It has been doused now.
“Some 68 shanties were gutted in the fire.”
He said they are assuming that the fire might have originated from a kitchen stove.
No casualties were reported in the fire, he added.
