Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) on Friday carried out an eviction drive beneath Mirpur-10 Metro Station, removing illegal encroachments to ensure smooth and safe movement of passengers.
The drive was conducted from 9am to 1pm as part of the company's regular enforcement activities, according to a DMTCL press release.
Illegal structures and encroachments identified as obstructing passenger movement and compromising safety in the station area were removed during the operation.
The drive was overseen by DMTCL Executive Magistrates Mohammad Shajahan Ali, Md Zahidul Islam and Nazrul Islam.
It was carried out with support from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Fire Service, Bangladesh Ansar, DESCO, WASA, MRT Police and the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
Among those present were DNCC Regional Executive Officer Kamal Uddin and DMTCL Deputy General Manager (Administration) Md Abu Hasan Siddique.
DMTCL said the operation was part of its ongoing efforts to keep station premises free of illegal occupation, ensuring uninterrupted passenger movement and improved security.
The company also said similar eviction drives against illegal encroachments will continue regularly.
On Thursday, DMTCL conducted similar drives beneath four metro rail stations, covering the stretch from Uttara North Metro Station to Pallabi Station.
