Members of RAB-2 have arrested eight people, including an alleged leader of the Patali Group, in the capital's Mohammadpur area on charges of kidnapping.
The arrests were made during a raid on Saturday night, RAB-2's media wing said on Sunday.
According to RAB, one of the arrestees is Shamim Patali, whom the force identified as the second-in-command of the alleged criminal group.
RAB also claimed to have recovered foreign-made firearms and live ammunition during the operation.
The elite force said further details of the operation would be disclosed at a press briefing.
