State Minister for Health and Family Welfare MA Muhit on Saturday announced a 50% fare discount on metro rail services for persons with disabilities.
He made the announcement while inaugurating the new CSF Centre, a rehabilitation centre for children with disabilities and cerebral palsy in the capital's Korail slum.
Muhit said the government has been working to ensure equal rights and quality services for persons with disabilities through budget allocations and policy initiatives.
"The present government has been working tirelessly to ensure equal rights and quality services for persons with disabilities through budget allocations and policymaking. As part of this effort, initiatives are being taken to introduce special education facilities for children with disabilities in every district of the country," he said.
He said the metro rail fare concession was introduced to make travel easier, more comfortable and more affordable for persons with disabilities.
"The decision to provide this special fare concession on metro rail has been taken to make travel easier, more comfortable and more affordable for persons with disabilities," he added.
