Update : 06 Feb 2026, 06:45 PM

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Friday evening clarified that no firearms or bullets were used to disperse an illegal gathering in front of state guesthouse Jamuna and its surrounding areas.

The DMP stated: “In order to maintain public order and ensure the safety of the chief adviser, all meetings, gatherings, processions, public assemblies, and demonstrations are prohibited in and around the state guesthouse Jamuna.

“Despite this, on Friday (February 6), multiple groups attempted to move toward Jamuna, crossing police barriers with various demands. At one point, police used tear shells and sound grenades to disperse the protesters.”

The DMP added: “We have noticed that some individuals are spreading false and misleading information on social media to distort this incident. The police acted fully in accordance with the law to disperse the protesters, and no firearms or bullets were used.

“Several police personnel were injured, and a few protesters sustained minor injuries. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police earnestly requests the public not to be misled by any misinformation regarding this matter.”
