Earthquake damages 14 buildings across Dhaka

Additionally, several buildings on Rampura TV Road and one on Abedkhali Road in Kalabagan reportedly tilted

Several buildings across various areas of Dhaka were damaged after an earthquake was felt in the capital and other parts of the country.

The information was confirmed in a notice signed by Md Salah Uddin Al Wadud, relief and rehabilitation officer of Dhaka district, on Friday evening.

According to the notice, 14 buildings in 14 areas of Dhaka suffered damage due to the quake. These include:

  • One building in Malibagh Chowdhury Para
  • One in Armanitola
  • One in Swamibagh
  • One in Banani
  • One in Kalabagan
  • One in Bashundhara Residential Area
  • One in Nadda
  • One in South Banasree
  • one in Mohammadpur
  • One in Khilgaon
  • One in Badda
  • One in Sipahibag
  • One in Madhubagh, Moghbazar
  • One near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport

Additionally, several buildings on Rampura TV Road and one on Abedkhali Road in Kalabagan reportedly tilted.

A six-storey building on Road 4 of Uttara Sector 11 developed major cracks on the second floor.

The front section of the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor) also developed significant cracks.
