A road accident in Jatrabari, Dhaka, early Monday claimed the life of Mohammad Shadek Ali Khan, 58.
The incident occurred early Monday at around 3:30am.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Nazrul Islam of Jatrabari police station said: "We received information via 999 early in the morning and recovered the body of a male pedestrian from the road opposite The One Restaurant on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway."
He added that the victim is believed to have died on the spot after being struck by an unidentified vehicle.
The deceased’s identity was confirmed through fingerprints linked to his National ID.
He was the son of Rawshan Ali Khan from Diyapara village in Harirampur Upazila of Manikganj district and had been residing in North Jatrabari.
SI Nazrul Islam further said : "After contacting the family, it was learned that the deceased had been suffering from mental health issues for some time. He had left home three to four months ago and had not returned. A missing person report had also been filed by the family."
Following legal procedures, the body was sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Monday afternoon, the police officer added.
