Two sanitation workers of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) were killed after being hit by a covered van in the capital’s Khilkhet area on Sunday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Ashraf Ali, 60, from Sherpur, and Nehar Begum, 40, from Naogaon, confirmed Ruhul Amin, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Khilkhet police station.
A covered van struck and killed two city corporation sanitation workers, including a woman, on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway near Bonrupa, the officer said.
Following the incident, the covered van was seized, and the driver, Abul Kashem, was arrested, he added.
The bodies of the deceased have been recovered and will be sent to the morgue for autopsy after the completion of legal procedures.
