The martyrs of the July revolution showed the nation and its people the path to freedom, Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain has said.
He made the remark on Tuesday, while addressing as chief guest a discussion and prayer session held in memory of the July martyrs at a mosque in Jatrabari, Dhaka.
Remembering the martyrs of the July uprising, the adviser said: "Those who were martyred or injured in the movement are the true sons of the nation. They guided the people from darkness towards light. The nation will forever remember them with gratitude."
Highlighting various initiatives taken by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Khalid said: “I have instructed the officials of my ministry that political affiliation is not the deciding factor. What matters is professionalism. All actions must be conducted in light of existing laws and regulations. No one shall be allowed to act beyond that framework.”
The adviser later offered prayers seeking eternal peace and forgiveness for the souls of those martyred in the uprising and the swift recovery of the injured.
Family members of the martyrs and the injured, as well as clerics, students, and members of the general public, were present at the event.
