JnU to set up ICT centre in memory of martyr Sajid

'The martyrdom of Sajid in the July uprising has made the entire nation proud,' says secretary of the Ministry of ICT

A modern ICT training centre, incubation centre, and innovation hub will be established in memory of Jagannath University (JnU) student Ikramul Haque Sajid, who was martyred during the July uprising.

The announcement was made by the secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Shish Haider Chowdhury, during the orientation program of the Accounting and Information Systems (AIS) Department at JnU on Sunday.

Haider said: “The martyrdom of Sajid in the July uprising has made the entire nation proud. In his memory, we will establish these modern technology-based centres at JnU to improve the quality of education and build skilled human resources.”

He further said: “This ICT training centre, incubation centre, and innovation hub will not only enhance students' technological skills but also boost their professionalism and innovative capacity.”

Special guests at the event included the former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), Md Forkan Uddin; dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, Professor Dr Md Manzur Murshed Bhuiyan; ICAB Adviser Latiful Hadi; deputy managing director of Brac Bank, Md Moniruzzaman Molla; managing director of CDBL, Md Abdul Matleb; and senior vice president and financial controller of Brac Bank PLC, Md Abdul Wahab Mia.

Also present at the event were the university’s Registrar, Professor Dr Giash Uddin, faculty members of the department, and both new and senior students.
