Cloudy skies and scattered rain across Dhaka

BMD has forecast more rain in Dhaka and other parts of the country on Tuesday

The sky over the capital turned dark, followed by heavy rainfall in different parts of the city by in the afternoon on Monday.

The sky over Dhaka remained clear since the morning, with temperatures running high. However, by noon, the mercury began to drop and clouds gradually rolled in. In some areas, dark clouds hovered without any sign of rain.

Heavy showers were reported in Dhanmondi, Panthapath, Karwan Bazar, Banglamotor, Kakrail, Purana Paltan, Bailey Road, Shantinagar, Malibagh, Moghbazar, Mirpur, and Shyamoli.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecast more rain in Dhaka and other parts of the country on Tuesday.

According to the department, the south-west monsoon has already advanced up to Chittagong division, and conditions are favourable for further advancement.

A low-pressure area is likely to form over the North Bay and adjoining regions by Tuesday.

The 24-hour forecast from 9am Monday states that many areas in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, and a few areas in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions, may experience temporary gusts, lightning, and light to moderate rain or thundershowers. Additionally, some places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet may witness moderately heavy rainfall.
