Update : 20 May 2025, 12:02 PM

Protesting workers remain stationed in front of the Srom Bhaban in Bijoynagar, Dhaka, disrupting office operations for a second consecutive day.

Since early Tuesday morning, employees of Style Craft and Young One’s BD have blocked the main entrance, preventing officials and staff from entering the building.

The workers are demanding payment of their overdue wages and bonuses. Style Craft worker leader Raju Ahmed stated that despite submitting a memorandum to the chief adviser’s office on Monday, no action has been taken. “Until our demands are met, we will continue to block access to the Srom Bhaban,” he said.

The workers claim that 1,058 employees are collectively owed Tk20.86 crore in unpaid wages over the past 14 months, along with Eid bonuses. They have vowed to maintain their protest until full payment is received.

Workers from the TNZ Group announced a ‘March to Jamuna’ program, scheduled for 2:30pm on Tuesday. The group plans to march to the chief adviser’s residence in Jamuna to press their demands and stage a sit-in until their dues are cleared.

Shahidul Islam, a TNZ worker leader, noted that the workers have been protesting for several months over unpaid wages. Although the Labour Secretary had promised Tk3 crore ahead of Eid, only 2.67 crore was paid. “We will not leave until the full amount is paid,” he asserted.
