Update : 11 May 2025, 09:15 PM

A heatstroke treatment centre has been opened under the supervision of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) at its Dedicated Covid Hospital in Mohakhali to provide care for patients suffering from heat-related illnesses amid the ongoing heat wave.

Necessary medical services will be provided free of cost to patients affected by heat-related conditions at this centre,” the DNCC said in a press release issued on Sunday.

Additionally, the DNCC administrator has instructed regional executive officers to ensure that the main prayer halls and ablution areas of mosques remain open to the public, from 11am until Maghrib prayers, with proper security arrangements.

This initiative is being implemented in coordination with mosque committees to help residents cope with the severe heat wave.

The Health Department will issue an official letter confirming this directive on the next working day, following consultation with the Islamic Foundation.

This urgent public service has also been included in the National Emergency Service (999). Residents under DNCC’s jurisdiction who are affected by heatstroke can call 999 for detailed information and assistance.
