Students from Dhaka University's "Azad Palestine" platform on Tuesday marched toward the Ministry of Home Affairs to protest Israel's genocide in Gaza and demand the reinstatement of the "Except Israel" clause that was removed from Bangladeshi passports in 2021.

Azad Palestine organized the "Free Palestine March" from the Raju Memorial Sculpture, with participants carrying a 70-foot-long flag.

As per the previously announced program, students began the march from the base of the Raju Sculpture at Dhaka University.

During the event, protesters burned effigies of Israeli President Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump.

At the rally, Azad Palestine's key organizer, AB Zubayer, presented their core demands, which included the state’s condemnation of the Gaza genocide, diplomatic pressure on Palestine, accountability from US officials, restoring the "Except Israel" clause on Bangladeshi passports, boycotting products that support the genocide, exposing the Awami League's alleged secret deals with Israel, and banning the Awami League for its purported involvement in genocide.

Following the rally, protesters marched through VC Square and Shaheed Minar to the High Court junction, where they took their positions.

A delegation submitted a memorandum to the home affairs adviser.

Musaddiq Ibne Ali Muhammad, another key organizer of the platform, told Dhaka Tribune that for their next program, they have called for raising "Free Palestine" flags at homes and businesses and praying for the injured and deceased residents of Gaza affected by Israeli aggression.
