Teachers, students, officers, and staff of Jagannath University (JnU) will hold a march for Palestine in protest of the Israeli genocide in Palestine and in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
This collective decision was made on Tuesday during a discussion meeting organized by the Teachers' Association, held at the university’s teachers’ lounge, with the participation of faculty members, students, officers, and staff.
They will march towards the US Embassy on Thursday.
At the meeting, the general secretary of the Teachers' Association, Professor Dr Rois Uddin said: “This initiative stems from our love for Islam. It is a protest against the brutal attacks and a call for justice for Palestine. We will deliver our message to the world and submit a memorandum to the embassy in a peaceful manner.”
The president of the Teachers' Association, Professor Dr Md Mosharraf Hossain said: “From Bangladesh, all we can do is shed tears. But as Muslims, we will stand in support of our fellow Muslims.”
Leaders from the university’s Teachers’ Association, the student branch of Chhatra Shibir, the Student Rights Council, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, and several journalists were also present at the event.
