A mass protest rally was held on Manik Mia Avenue in the capital in protest of Israel’s brutal attacks on Palestine and in support of a general strike called by the people of Gaza.

At around 4pm, young students and professionals gradually gathered in front of the parliament complex to show solidarity with Palestine.

After an hour-long rally, a protest march was held at 5pm, which proceeded along Manik Mia Avenue.

The area was filled with a large number of protesters during the demonstration. Hundreds of people gathered with various placards and banners in a procession in front of parliament.

The entire area was filled with slogans such as “To stand with Palestine, one must be human, not just Muslim”, “Why did my brother die? I demand answers”, “It’s burning, it’s burning, fire’s in the blood”, “The brave Bengalis are awake”, “Slap on Trump’s cheeks, hit the beat”, “Brave Bengalis, pick up arms, free Palestine”, and others.

One of the participants, Samsuzzaman Babul, said: "Today we are here because it is our moral duty. We want to raise our demands from here. Our Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus is a global diplomatic strategist.”

He added: “On behalf of the 180 million people of Bangladesh, we have one demand – the head of state must take action to stop this war. The blood of 180 million people of Bangladesh is being spilled; everyone must rise."

The protesters urged everyone to continue the movement from their respective locations, saying that the cries of all oppressed people around the world were the same.

They explained that they had raised their voices against Netanyahu’s bloodthirsty regime and called for the world, just like the youth of Bangladesh, to echo the same words in support of Palestine.
