A young man was assaulted by hawkers in the presence of his mother at Mirpur-10 in the capital.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on Friday morning when an argument broke out between the young man and a street vendor. Following the altercation, several hawkers attacked him indiscriminately.
A video of the incident circulated on social media, sparking outrage among local students and residents.
In response, on Saturday afternoon, they gathered, visited the accused vendors’ stalls, identified members of the syndicate, and detained them.
After administering a public beating, they handed them over to the police.
Mirpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sajjad Hossain confirmed the incident, saying: "Four individuals have been detained. Although the main accused has fled, legal action will be taken against them."
