A man was shot to death by unidentified assailants near the Police Plaza in Dhaka's Gulshan area on Thursday night.
The deceased, Sumon, 35, was an internet service provider and a resident of the TV Gate area.
Gulshan police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Maruf Ahmed said Sumon was found critically injured on the left side of the road, north of Police Plaza.
He was immediately taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctor, after examination, declared him dead at 11pm.
The deceased’s body has been placed in the hospital’s emergency department morgue, as confirmed by the police officer.
The motive behind the killing and the identity of the perpetrators remain unknown at this time, said Maruf.
Gunshot wounds were found on his head and the left side of his chest.
Further details will be disclosed following an investigation, the SI said, adding that authorities are currently tracing the victim’s relatives.
