Teachers, students, officials, and staff of Jagannath University (JnU) formed a human chain on Thursday in strong condemnation and protest against attacks carried out by Israeli forces on Palestinian people in Gaza.
The JnU Teachers’ Association organized the protest in front of the university's Shaheed Minar.
During the demonstration, speakers emphasized the urgent need for world leaders to intervene and stop Israel’s terrorist attacks on Palestinian Muslims.
They called for solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine and urged a boycott of products owned by Israel and its Western allies.
Speakers also expressed disappointment over the silence of Muslim-majority countries despite the ongoing atrocities, stating that if Israel's aggression is not stopped now, similar brutality could spread to other Muslim nations in the future.
JnU Chhatra Shibir Secretary Riazul Islam remarked: “Instead of fighting for the rights of our oppressed brothers and sisters, we waste time debating minor religious differences. While the Muslim community remains preoccupied with such disputes, innocent Palestinian mothers and sisters are being mercilessly killed.”
Professor Dr Md Belal Hossain from the History Department highlighted that the massacre has been ongoing for 70-80 years and called for the world to stand with the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom. “We urge the global community to support our oppressed Palestinian brothers and sisters,” he said.
JnU Teachers’ Association General Secretary Professor Dr Roich Uddin said: “From Bangladesh, there is little we can do for Palestine beyond expressing our condemnation and protest. We pray that Allah protects the Palestinians from their oppressors, and we express our hatred for the murderers.”
