A female journalist has been admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Center (OCC) at Dhaka Medical College Hospital after being gang-raped while collecting news in Pallabi, Dhaka on Monday night.
Dr Sabina Yasmin, the coordinator of the OCC, confirmed the information on Wednesday afternoon.
She said: "The survivor is currently in stable condition. She has received primary medical treatment, and necessary tests have been conducted. However, it is too early to make any definitive statements."
The survivor told journalists: "A press conference will be held soon to demand the highest punishment for the perpetrators."
It has been learned that the survivor has been working as a reporter for a Dhaka-based daily for the past three years.
On Monday night, she went to the Green City area of Barontek for news coverage, said the survivor.
She said that she was held captive in an under-construction building and subjected to gang rape throughout the night.
A case was filed on Tuesday regarding the incident, naming eight individuals and accusing eight more unidentified persons.
Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the case.
