The students said that this was not the first time a female student had been harassed on a Victor Classic bus

Students of Jagannath University (JnU) detained 10 buses of Victor Paribahan in front of the university’s main gate in protest against the harassment of a female student on Monday night at around 9pm.

According to reports, a female student from the university’s English department boarded a Victor Classic bus from Gulistan, where she was harassed by the bus helper. Although the student protested the incident herself, no one on the bus came to her aid.

Later, she informed her classmates about the incident. When they repeatedly tried to contact the bus owner regarding the matter, he did not receive their calls. Additionally, the specific bus in which the incident occurred could not be located. As a result, the students detained the buses in front of the campus gate and kept their keys.

The students said that this was not the first time a female student had been harassed on a Victor Classic bus. The same incident had occurred before. As this issue has been repeated, they decided to detain multiple Victor buses until proper action is taken.

The female student said: “When I boarded the bus from Gulistan, the helper standing at the gate repeatedly touched me inappropriately. I asked him why he was touching me, but he did not respond. I immediately informed the bus conductor, but he remained silent. The people around me also did not protest. I demand exemplary punishment for this incident.”

Attempts were made to contact the university's proctor regarding the matter, but multiple calls went unanswered.

A similar incident occurred last October when another female JnU student was harassed on a Victor Classic bus. In protest, the university’s students detained 12 Victor Classic buses at that time.
