Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Monday ordered the police to strengthen security for all citizens during a special meeting with senior police officers on law and order issues at his office.
Home Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Home Secretary Nasimul Gani and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam spoke at the meeting, BSS reports.
Among the field-level officials, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Chittagong range police Ahsan Habib Palash and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Rajshahi Farzana Islam also spoke.
Highlighting the situation on the ground, Dr Yunus warned that defeated forces may escalate efforts to provoke unrest as the election approaches, and asked the police to stay vigilant and prevent such activities from causing disruptions, UNB reports.
The Chief Adviser also alerted the police about any propaganda so that the efforts to build a new Bangladesh remain unhindered.
About 127 SPs and senior officers joined the special meeting.
