A fire resulting from a gas line leakage in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, has claimed another life, taking the death toll to four.
The deceased, Mohammad Sohag, 23, son of Majedul Islam from Panialpukur village in Kishoreganj upazila, Nilphamari, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at 1:05am on Tuesday.
Earlier, his wife Rupali, 20, and their 18-month-old daughter Sumaiya had also died after suffering severe burns.
According to Resident Doctor Shaon Bin Rahman, 40% of Sohag’s body had been burned.
The fire broke out late at night on March 3 in the Godnail Chairmanbari area of Siddhirganj due to a gas line leakage.
Eight members of the same family, including women and children, sustained burn injuries.
So far, four people have died from the incident: Hannan, 40, Rupali, 20, Sumaiya, 1 year and 6 months, and Sohag, 23.
Four others remain in critical condition and are receiving treatment. They are Sabbir, 12, Samiya, 10, Jannat, 4, and Nurjahan Laki, 30.
Dr Shaon Bin Rahman confirmed that the survivors are in critical condition and are under close observation.
