Two people were killed in separate road accidents in Malibagh and Elephant Road areas of Dhaka.
The first incident occurred in the Malibagh Chowdhuripara area at around 5pm.
A motorcyclist, Polash Molla, 36, was hit by a bus from the Victor Classic Transport at the Shahidi Mosque slope.
He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a community hospital before being transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where he was declared dead at 6:40pm.
Polash Molla, a businessman running "Binimoy Money Exchange" in Motijheel, was returning home from work when the accident occurred.
He resided with his wife and two children in South Banasree, and was originally from the Char Ballah Hati village in the Kalai Upazila of Narail.
In the second accident, a tailor named Abdul Mannan, 61, was killed on Elephant Road at around 5:30pm.
Mannan, who owned Pentagon Tailors in the BS Building, was struck by a speeding motorcycle while crossing the road near the Subastu ICT Tower.
He was severely injured and later declared dead at the DMCH emergency department.
Local shopkeeper Mohammad Habib reported that Mannan was hit while on his way to purchase Iftar.
The motorcyclist sustained minor injuries but left after receiving first aid.
Abdul Mannan was a resident of Jhigatala, originally from Polashpara, Gaibandha.
