Private university students have declared the newly formed "Bangladesh Gonotantrik Chhatra Songshod" committee undesirable, protesting its formation and leadership structure.

The students made the announcement at a press conference in Shahbagh around 8pm on Wednesday, following clashes between two factions over the committee’s formation.

Speaking at the press conference, students alleged that private university students played a key role in sustaining the movement after July 17, especially when Dhaka University (DU) students' participation declined.

However, despite their contributions, no private university students were given positions in the new committee, which was dominated by DU students.

Private university student Nahid said: "It was private university students who kept the movement alive after July 17. But now, we have been completely excluded from the committee. When we protested this decision, some individuals attacked us. Many of our peers were injured and are currently undergoing treatment."
