During a visit to locations housing what had been previously used as secret detention cells, colloquially known as Aynaghor, with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday, advisers Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain and Md Nahid Islam, key figures of July uprising, confirmed recognizing the torture cells where they had been held.

The confirmation was shared through two separate Facebook posts by Chief Adviser's Assistant Press Secretary Suchismita Tithi.

In one post about Asif Mahmud, Tithi wrote: “During the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in July, Nahid and Asif were taken away by plainclothesmen and held in DGFI torture cells. Today (Wednesday), Asif Mahmud was able to identify the cell. He mentioned that there were exhaust fans in the upper part of the walls of the room.”

In another post about Nahid Islam, she shared: "After being taken away by plainclothesmen last July, Nahid Islam was held in this DGFI torture cell. Today (Wednesday), during the visit, Nahid identified the room. He mentioned that there was a basin-like structure on one side of the room, used as a toilet. After August 5, the walls between these cells were demolished and repainted.”

Asif Mahmud said: "I recognized the cell by the upper part of the walls, which had exhaust fans that are no longer present. The room has been expanded by breaking down the central wall and was originally much smaller. I was held in this room for four days without being allowed to speak with anyone outside. The toilet was located outside the room, and I was blindfolded whenever taken to the toilet.”
