CID finds bones at demolished Dhanmondi 32 house

On February 5 night, enraged students and members of the public attacked the house, demolishing it with an excavator

Update : 10 Feb 2025, 01:28 PM

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has reported discovering bones at the partially demolished residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Dhanmondi 32.

A forensic team from CID’s crime scene unit began collecting evidence at the site around 7:45am on Monday in the presence of Dhanmondi police.

Dhanmondi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ali Ahmed Masud said: “Some bones were found at Dhanmondi 32 house. The CID’s crime scene unit has collected evidence to determine whether they are human or from an animal.”

On the night of February 5, enraged students and members of the public attacked the house, demolishing it with an excavator.

The incident led to suspicions about an under-construction building in the basement, where water had accumulated. Social media was soon flooded with claims about the existence of an "Aynaghar" in the building.

In response, the fire service initiated efforts to drain the water.

On Sunday, around 10am, a team from the Mohammadpur fire station arrived at the site and began pumping out the water.

Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of the fire service, told BBC Bangla that the process was completed by 1:30pm the same day. However, he confirmed that no "Aynaghar" or similar structure was found in the basement.

Following these developments, CID’s crime scene unit arrived on Monday to collect further evidence.
