Family members of those martyred in the July uprising blocked the Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka on Thursday morning, demanding justice and official recognition from the government.
The blockade began at around 11:15am, causing a halt in traffic and creating difficulties for the general public.
During the demonstration, they also called for the swift extradition of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina from India to face trial.
The families claimed they had been trying to meet with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus for the past several months, but their requests had been ignored.
Their demands are: the arrest of all accused within 10 days for the trial of each killing; state recognition of the martyrs and the injured; prompt rehabilitation for the families of the martyrs; fair compensation for martyr families through discussions; a monthly allowance for martyr families without delay; and honouring the martyrs with the status of national heroes.
