Kolpona, a thirteen-year-old child who was physically and mentally abused by her employer, Dinat Jahan Ador, is set to return home after 101 days of medical treatment.

Kolpona’s father, Shahid Mia confirmed her wellbeing to Dhaka Tribune.

Kolpona and her family will leave Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to their village at Habiganj Wednesday morning.

Last October, Kolpona was rescued from the household of Dinat Jahan Ador in the Basundhara Residential Area with the help of police.

After coming to Dhaka as a domestic worker, Kolpona was tortured brutally for five years.

Dinat’s cruelty knew no bounds—she even burned Kolpona’s skin with a hot hair straightener and broke her front teeth with a wooden hairbrush.

After bringing Kolpona to the DMCH Burn Unit, Dr Md Nasir Uddin commented on the severity of her injuries: “The burn injuries were not inflicted in one day. There are deep wounds in many parts of the body, many of which are now infected.”

Since October, Kolpona has gone through multiple surgeries on several parts of her body. DMCH doctors performed surgeries in phases to recover her facial wounds.

Shahid Mia expressed his gratitude to everyone who came to help and stand for Kolpona.
