Now 7-college students block roads at Technical intersection

DU Pro-VC allegedly misbehaved with the protesting students

Students of the seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University (DU) have blocked the roads at the Technical intersection in the capital, Dhaka, disrupting traffic on two major roads.
 

On Sunday at around 6pm, intersectione than 200 students began the blockade, causing severe traffic congestion in surrounding areas, including Technical intersection, Science Lab, Nilkhet intersection, and Elephant Road.

The students claimed that when they went to meet DU Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed to discuss progress on their five-point demands, he allegedly misbehaved with them.

In response, the students immediately blocked the two key roads, Technical intersection and Science Lab.

The students are demanding an apology from the DU Pro-VC, along with the fulfillment of their five-point demands.

The demands of the students are as follows: The removal of the unreasonable quota system in the seven colleges' admission process starting from the 2024-25 session, no admission of students beyond classroom capacity, admissions must consider the teacher-student ratio, the inclusion of negative marking in exams, admission fees must be deposited in a new account, separate from DU, under the oversight of a ministry-appointed expert committee to ensure transparency.
