Update : 13 Jan 2025, 03:10 PM

The prosecution team of the International Crimes Tribunal has obtained crucial call records of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and others allegedly involved in the July killings during the July-August uprising.

However, prosecutors have complained of non-cooperation in providing information to the tribunal.

This information was revealed on Monday by the Prosecutor's Office of the International Crimes Tribunal.

In a briefing, Prosecutor Tanvir Zoha said that significant evidence of enforced disappearances has been uncovered.

Efforts were made to destroy all traces of the killings. However, crucial call records of the individuals involved have been obtained, he said.

Trials for crimes against humanity related to the July-August killings are ongoing in the International Crimes Tribunal.

The killings that occurred in Bangladesh during July and August, amidst the quota reform and anti-government protests, are being termed as "genocide."

Although there has been much debate about the death toll from the protests, the exact number is yet to be determined.

According to a list from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the death toll stands at 708.

The work to finalize the list of victims is ongoing.

The ministry said that claims of over 1,400 deaths are unverified and not confirmed figures.
