The Dhaka University administration has imposed an entry restriction from 5pm on Tuesday to 5am on Wednesday, on the occasion of the new year.
This information was announced in an urgent notice issued by the Proctor's Office of Dhaka University on Sunday.
According to the notice, for the overall safety of Dhaka University students during on New Year's Eve, entry to the campus through Shahbagh, Doel Chattar, DMCH Burn Unit, Shibbari Crossing, Fuller Road, Palashi Mor and Nilkhet will be restricted during the specified period.
The notice further stated that only students with valid ID cards, members of the university community, vehicles with Dhaka University stickers and vehicles engaged in emergency services such as ambulances, doctors, patients and journalists will be allowed to enter the campus.
Additionally, no events, fireworks, sky lanterns or explosive materials will be permitted in any open spaces within the university premises.
