The kitchen market is brimming with winter vegetables, and the prices of many have started to decline.
Potatoes, which were sold at Tk100 per kilogram last week, are now available for Tk50. Green chilies are now priced at Tk80 per kilogram. Almost every vegetable has seen some price adjustments.
On Saturday morning, visits to several markets in the capital, including Mohammadpur Town Hall, Rayer Bazaar, and Dhanmondi Staff Quarters, revealed this scenario.
Traders said that compared to last week, prices have slightly decreased now.
The influx of all varieties of winter vegetables into the market has contributed to the relatively lower prices.
A market survey showed that the price of eggplants is Tk40-50 per kilogram, bitter gourd is Tk60-80, okra is Tk40, yardlong beans are Tk60, radish is Tk30, stem amaranth (loti) is Tk60, snake gourd is Tk40-50, pointed gourd is Tk40, raw papaya is Tk20, carrots are Tk60, taro root is Tk80, tomatoes are Tk80, hyacinth beans are Tk40-60, turnips are Tk30-40, cucumbers are Tk40-50, while both new and old potatoes are being sold at Tk50 per kilogram.
Additionally, coriander leaves are sold at Tk10 per bundle, while onion stalks are priced at Tk60-70. Cauliflower, cabbage, and bottle gourd are priced based on size. Cauliflower costs Tk25-45 per piece, cabbage Tk30 per piece, and bottle gourd Tk50-80 per piece.
The market also offers red amaranth at Tk10 per bundle, jute leaves at Tk10-15, Malabar spinach at Tk20-30, radish leaves at Tk10, stem spinach at Tk10, water spinach at Tk10, and spinach at Tk10 per bundle.
Coriander leaves remain steady at Tk10 per bundle, and prices of other items vary depending on quality and size.
