A woman lost her life after being struck by a BRTC staff bus while crossing the road under the Motijheel Metro Station in Dhaka on Thursday.
The accident occurred around 7:45pm on Thursday.
She was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition, where doctors declared her dead.
Eyewitnesses Tarek Islam, a passer-by, and Saiful Islam, a rickshaw-puller, reported that the woman was a beggar and appeared mentally unstable.
In the evening, she was hit by an empty, double-decker BRTC staff bus on the road under the Motijheel Metro Station, causing her to fall onto the road and sustain severe injuries.
She was later taken to DMCH, where attending doctors confirmed her death.
Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the DMCH police outpost, confirmed the incident and said: "The body has been kept in the hospital morgue, and the matter has been reported to the relevant police station."
