Mahin Sarker, a member of the executive committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has announced plans to besiege the office of Law Adviser Asif Nazrul.
The student leader on Monday criticized the interim government for delaying the formation of a commission to ensure justice for the 2009 BDR massacre, claiming that the government is going against the aspirations of the people.
Mahin in his Facebook post said the protest will take place at 11am on Tuesday, with the families of the victims of the BDR massacre participating.
Meanwhile, a key coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Hasanat Abdullah, expressed solidarity with Mahin's stance, writing: "I stand with my brother Mahin. Justice for the BDR massacre must be ensured."
Earlier, Mahin posted on Facebook, saying: "As a minor participant in the July mass uprising, I, Mahin Sarker, will besiege the office of the law adviser tomorrow with the families of the BDR massacre victims. Even if no one joins me, even if no one in Bangladesh stands with me, I will not back down from my firm stance."
Mahin further said: "Four months after taking office, this interim government has failed to ensure justice for the BDR massacre, which is a gross failure. By delaying the formation of a commission to ensure justice for the BDR massacre, the government has taken a position against the desires of the people of the country. This is a mockery."
He also mentioned: "India is spreading confusion by calling the victory achieved by the freedom-loving people of Bangladesh in 1971 as their own. In this context, neglecting the justice for the BDR massacre and not protesting against India's historical distortion is a threat to the sovereignty of our independent Bangladesh."
Mahin further said: "If any foreign superpower or this interim government, which came to power at the cost of the blood of countless martyrs, takes a stand against me, I will continue to fight for justice for the BDR massacre till my last breath. I will not accept any delays or steps like the formation of a commission under the pretext of reforms until justice is ensured."
