Journalist Munni Saha has been detained by the police from Karwan Bazar in the capital.
She was held at around 10pm on Saturday, Tejgaon police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mobarak Hossain confirmed.
OC Mobarak Hossain said that after leaving her office at Janata Tower on Saturday night, Munni Saha was surrounded by some locals.
Upon receiving the information, the police detained her from the scene and brought her to the police station.
Eyewitnesses reported that after she was taken away, more than a hundred people protested, demanding her trial, reports Prothom Alo.
Munni Saha was the editor of an online portal called "Ek Takar Khobor".
Police sources said that at around 10:30pm, Munni Saha was taken from the police station to the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) office on Minto Road.
It is worth mentioning that Munni Saha has multiple cases filed against her.
