Police used tear gas shells and sound grenades to disperse protesters after a confrontation between the two groups outside the Prothom Alo office in Karwan Bazar, Dhaka, on Sunday evening.
Two individuals were detained following the clash, and to bring the situation under control, a large number of police and army personnel were deployed.
A journalist from Prothom Alo reported clashes outside, which created a tense and alarming situation while all staff remained inside the office.
Earlier in the day, protesters began a program in front of the Prothom Alo office as part of a demonstration against alleged Indian aggression. Later, they slaughtered a black cow.
The demonstrators claimed that Prothom Alo and The Daily Star were aiding Indian aggression.
They said they had organized this symbolic act to get them to repent and announced plans to cook and distribute the meat as part of their program.
Previously, on Thursday and Friday, another group of protesters demonstrated in front of the Prothom Alo and The Daily Star offices.
Under the banner of "Bangladesh's People," the protesters also performed prayers outside The Daily Star office.
