Update : 22 Nov 2024, 03:45 PM

Ahingsha Gonoobhyuthan Bangladesh, or Nonviolent People's Upheaval, has announced that it will hold a solidarity rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka, demanding a special anti-corruption law, on Monday.

The organizers shared this information at a press conference on Friday at the National Press Club.

Organization member Md Mahbubul Alam Chowdhury said: “Our organization has been working for the past four years to draft a special anti-corruption law based on the support of 18 million people from different regions of the country. On August 18, we submitted a draft to the chief adviser during a solidarity rally at Shahbagh. On November 25, we will hold another rally at Suhrawardy Udyan with the same demand.”

“We have not yet received permission from DMP to hold the rally, but we hope to get it within a day or two.”

Mahbubul emphasized: “We believe this law will ensure public hearings at the upazila level and implement special measures to recover black money in the country.”

Other members of Ahingsha Gonoobhyuthan Bangladesh present at the press conference included Naeem Chowdhury, Khondoker Jasim Uddin, Md Belal Hossain, Mehedi Hasan, and Kamal Hossain Azad, among others.
