A new student organization, “Swadhin Bangladesh Chhatra Sangshad” has been launched at Dhaka University (DU).

On Tuesday night, a 30-member executive committee was announced on the organization’s Facebook page.

Jamaluddin Muhammad Khalid has been appointed as the convener, and Hasan Inam as the general secretary.

Jannati Bulbul serves as the joint convener, Fatematul Jannat Ima as the joint general secretary, and Tashahud Ahmed Rafim as the spokesperson.

Convener Jamaluddin Muhammad Khalid said: "The Independent Bangladesh Student Parliament has been formed to work for the reform of Dhaka University campus, opening new possibilities, and the overall welfare of students. Our structure is not like traditional political parties. Our activities will focus on the overall reform of Dhaka University. Previously, we were active in various movements, and now it is time for everyone to come together and work. With this goal in mind, we have initiated the Swadhin Bangladesh Chhatra Sangshad. We aim to work for the highest development of the campus."

General Secretary Hasan Inam said: "There has been no significant difference between national politics and student politics for years. Subordinate student organizations cannot function as they wish. We will not face this problem. We aim to change the traditional definition of student politics. Our politics will focus on student welfare and campus reform. We will participate in the DUCSU elections, and this is the direction we are working towards."
